Dark Chocolat Café

What a cute place! The staffs are so friendly. The cakes are so delicious. The decor are so beautiful. We got the: Lemon meringue cheese cake Double shot americano Chocolate shot I want to have 5 stomach to try all the cakes here!

Dark Chocolat Café is every bit as decadent as its name suggests. As you walk in, you’re greeted by a beautiful display of cakes that immediately set the tone for what’s to come. The décor is rich and detailed — chandeliers, classic artwork, and ornate touches throughout, creating an atmosphere that feels both elegant and welcoming. I had the brownie and cheesecake creation topped with meringue — an absolutely divine combination of rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced flavours. My husband enjoyed a cheesecake and lemon meringue combo, which was equally delicious. We both had cappuccinos, which paired perfectly with the desserts. There’s seating both indoors and outdoors, with several charming rooms to explore, each thoughtfully decorated. Even the single bathroom reflects the same sense of care and style. Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient, adding to the overall wonderful experience. A perfect stop for anyone who appreciates great coffee, indulgent cake, and an atmosphere filled with character and charm.

We had breakfast here and loved it. The food was delicious and made with high quality ingredients. The spread of cakes and chocolate truffles looked amazing and so diverse, so we took some home for tea - they were delicious. We loved the vintage/Victorian ambience and all the decor. Both our waitress and the owner were so polite and friendly. This is our new favorite café in Parys!

I took some time away from JHB and came to Parys for two nights R and R. I don't know Parys at all so when I was looking for a place to have a bite to eat, and Dark Chocolat Café popped up, I thought I'd give it a try. Any place with the word 'chocolat' in it had to be good! And I was not disappointed. I had a quiche and salad for lunch, served by the lovely Mpho. The quiche was hot and tasty and the side salad was full of feta ,tomato, olives and so on (not a skimpy side salad at all). I had spied the cakes when I walked in and decided I would come back for cake the following day. I had the baked cheesecake, chocolate brownie cake and my goodness was it a treat! The cheesecake part by itself was delicious, the chocolate brownie part alone was delightful, then add whipped meringue and you have heaven on a plate! The only issue I have is that I don't live close enough to pop in every week for this cake and to try the others on offer!

What more do you want? This place is lovely! Rustic province style and the food is very good. They came up with some very delicious combinations. I had the Queen of Tart breakfast: pear baked in brie cheese with onion jam and biltong! That combo!! Wow. The Cappuccino is very great too! I almost ate cake as well!

We had such a wonderful experience at this café! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to relax. The cakes were absolutely delicious — fresh, rich in flavor, and beautifully served. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the visit even more special. Definitely a place worth visiting, and we’ll happily return again!
